Both standards define the properties of loose steel tubes for tube-and-coupler scaffolding systems, but they are applied in different regions. EN 39 is the European standard that specifies requirements for wall thicknesses of 3.2mm and 4.0mm, along with strict tolerances for chemical composition and mechanical properties. BS 1139 is the British Standard, which aligns closely with EN 39 but includes specific regional requirements for dimensions, tolerances, and testing protocols.
