1. The Metallurgical Science of Zinc Coatings

In architectural and heavy industrial applications, steel is constantly exposed to atmospheric oxygen, humidity, and corrosive chemical agents. Under the Yong Xia Zhang engineering standards implemented at our Tianjin manufacturing base, corrosion prevention is executed via two primary methods: Pre-Galvanization (PG) and Hot-Dip Galvanization (HDG).

During the Hot-Dip Galvanization process, fabricated carbon steel is immersed in a bath of molten zinc at approximately 450°C (842°F). This initiates a metallurgical reaction resulting in the formation of multiple zinc-iron alloy layers: the Gamma phase (75% Zn, 25% Fe), the Delta phase (90% Zn, 10% Fe), and the Zeta phase (94% Zn, 6% Fe), topped with a pure zinc outer layer (Eta phase). This structural bond guarantees mechanical adhesion that resists impact and friction. The coating thickness typically exceeds 500 g/m² (equivalent to roughly 70–85 microns), complying strictly with ASTM A123 and BS EN ISO 1461.

Conversely, Pre-Galvanization utilizes continuous coil line processing where the steel sheet is passed through molten zinc, resulting in a highly uniform, aesthetic coating of 60–120 g/m². This is ideal for precision framing, agricultural greenhouses, and light engineering applications.

2. Structural Integrity & Mechanical Testing (ASTM, DIN, JIS, EN Standards)

To maintain reliability across high-stress infrastructure projects, our products undergo rigorous mechanical and chemical validation. Steel grades Q235, Q345, and S235JR are analyzed for chemical yield levels and tensile thresholds.

For example, the structural steel grade Q235 (equivalent to S235JR in European EN 10025 standards) possesses a yield strength of 235 MPa and a tensile strength range between 370 and 500 MPa. For heavy-load applications, our Q345 (Grade 50) steel utilizes micro-alloying elements like vanadium and niobium to achieve a yield strength of 345 MPa. All raw materials undergo structural testing including ultrasonic testing (UT), hydrostatic pressure tests, flattening tests, and bend testing, ensuring zero micro-fractures along the longitudinal Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) seam.
