In the modern era of resource conservation and circular economics, Tire Wire Scrap (often referred to as recycled steel bead wire or tire cord wire) has transitioned from a discarded waste product to a highly valued secondary metallurgical feedstock. Originating from the structural reinforcing belts of passenger and commercial tires, this material possesses remarkable inherent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength, superior elasticity, and excellent fatigue resistance.
As carbon neutralization targets become legally binding for steel mills globally, the demand for high-quality steel scrap feedstocks has escalated. Recycled tire wire scrap provides electric arc furnaces (EAF) and oxygen converter processes with an ideal, pre-processed micro-alloyed carbon steel charge. Because tire manufacturers employ strict chemical and structural controls to ensure road safety, the scrap wire retrieved from end-of-life tire (ELT) processing lines displays reliable carbon fractions, minimal copper/zinc impurities (when correctly segregated), and predictable melting characteristics.
Unlike generic structural scrap, tire wire scrap is comprised of high-carbon steel alloys with standard compositions that make it highly desirable for re-smelting and targeted micro-alloyed component manufacturing.
The extraction of high-grade steel wire scrap from vulcanized rubber is executed through two primary industrial routes: mechanical ambient/cryogenic shredding and thermal pyrolysis.
Mechanical Extraction: In this pathway, tires undergo primary, secondary, and tertiary shredding down to rubber crumb sizes. Powerful overband magnetic separators extract the liberated steel bead and cord wires. Mechanically retrieved wire retains small trace amounts of rubber (typically 2% to 5% by weight depending on the efficiency of the magnetic and screening systems). This material is often compacted into dense briquettes to enhance EAF melting efficiency and reduce oxidation losses during transport.
Pyrolysis Decomposition: Thermal cracking of end-of-life tires in oxygen-free reactors at 450°C to 650°C yields pyrolytic oil, carbon black, and clean steel wire scrap. The pyrolytic wire scrap is virtually 100% free of organic contaminants. The heat treatment during pyrolysis partially anneals the steel, lowering its tensile hardness and making it easier to shred, bale, and feed directly into blast furnaces or steel scrap recycling systems.
The metallurgical industry is moving toward automated sorting powered by artificial intelligence and hyperspectral imaging. By matching scrap composition in real-time, factories can mix tire wire scraps with low-carbon structural metal to achieve precise chemical formulations without thermal reprocessing. Furthermore, advanced cleaning lines employing high-frequency vibrating screens and thermal de-coating are lowering rubber residues below 0.5%, unlocking applications in precision wire rod extrusion and carbon-neutral casting.

Tianjin Minjie Steel Co.,Ltd was established in 1998. Our factory spans more than 70,000 square meters, strategically located just 40 kilometers from XinGang port, which is the biggest port in the north of China. This proximity enables fast, cost-effective shipping for global bulk steel and scrap orders.
We are a professional manufacturer and exporter of steel products. Our primary product portfolio includes pre-galvanized steel pipes, hot-dip galvanized pipes, welded steel pipes, square & rectangular tubing, C/U-channel structural purlins, galvanized steel angles, carbon steel wire, and comprehensive scaffolding systems.
Over the years, our dedication to innovation has led to the acquisition of 3 core patents: groove pipes, shoulder pipes, and victaulic coupling pipes. Our advanced manufacturing equipment includes 4 high-efficiency pre-galvanized product lines, 8 ERW steel pipe product lines, and 3 hot-dipped galvanized process lines. All products are manufactured in strict compliance with GB, ASTM, DIN, and JIS standards under our ISO9001 quality management system.
With an annual output of various pipe products exceeding 300,000 tons, our factory has consistently been awarded honor certificates by the Tianjin municipal government and the Tianjin Quality Supervising Bureau. Our steel products and industrial materials are widely applied in machinery fabrication, steel construction, agricultural vehicles, greenhousing, automotive structures, railway and highway barriers, container manufacturing, furniture frames, and heavy steel fabrication.
Minjie Steel's first-class technical advisers and professional service team supply heavy industries across every continent.
Our company participates in the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) every year. During the 2017 exposition, our booth successfully attracted a large volume of global buyers. Over 80% of clients who visited our booths later toured our factories in Tianjin to verify our technology and management models. We continue to welcome industrial buyers worldwide to inspect our production capacities.
